Abstract
We want to encourage people with disabilities to join the field of medicine, especially radiology. Radiologists should embrace disability as a dimension of diversity and should mentor students with disabilities. Appreciating the contributions of people with disabilities in our workforce will make us as radiologists more empathetic and active in removing barriers and ensuring equal access for patients, staff, and physicians with disabilities. Radiologists need to see and meet other physicians and scientists with disabilities who are successful and celebrated in the practice of radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, and medical physics. Our patients also need to meet these doctors and scientists!
