Abstract

This week Pam Adelstein (a graduate of the Family Health Center of Worcester residency and current faculty at the Codman Family Health Center in Boston) starts us off with a reflection on depression and becoming overwhelmed. I think this is fitting as many of us are emerging from the pandemic a little scarred. Others of us are also dealing with the crisis of the Family Health Center of Worcester currently and the round of layoffs. Whatever it is for you that is pushing you to your limits, listen to Pam's words of encouragement to seek help. I too recall seeing a counselor and getting on meds, first as a medical student and then again as a young faculty member. This is tough stuff. Each of us has a different biochemical make-up, different thresholds for resilience, different support systems at home and with friends. We may not be able to change the system around us, however, we can change our reaction to it and find a way that works for each of us. Hang in.
