Abstract
The idea that religion works at the level of the individual to develop temperance, or self-control, leading to positive physical, emotional, and behavioral outcomes, is a new and intriguing topic in the study of religion and psychology. This chapter will specifically explore this medication model with regard to recovery from addiction.
