Abstract

Annual report for Fiscal Year 2016 (FY16) from the Systems and Psychosocial Advances Research Center (SPARC). We are grateful to the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) for its continued support of the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s (UMMS) DMH Research Center of Excellence, the Systems and Psychosocial Advances Research Center (SPARC). Highlights of Fiscal Year 2016 include 1) A five-year grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to better serve women suffering from perinatal depression; 2) A randomized controlled trial (RCT) to test the effectiveness of an integrated, home-based, intensive antisocial behavior, mental health, and substance use intervention for 17-21 year olds with serious mental illness and justice system involvement; 3) A Transitions Research and Training Center-based internship program for local college students with lived mental health experience; and 4) A new SPARC webinar series that expands the way we inform stakeholders about the latest mental health services research.
