Neonatal and adult myelin-deficient shiverer (shi) mice, bearing a mutation of the myelin basic protein (MBP) gene, have been used extensively as hosts for testing cell engraftment, migration, and myelination, but relatively little progress has been made in reversing shi motor deficits.
